A little help for our long term residents
Sometimes a cat will be with us a little longer because of medical reasons and sometimes they will be with us indefinitely because they can not be rehomed.
These cats need a little extra help and for £5 a month you can help feed them, pay for any medical bills and any supplies they need.
Our long term residents
Cooper
Cooper is the inspiration behind the founding of the GCR and will be a life long foster cat in our care. He is doubly incontinent and needs his bowl and bladder emptying several times a day. He has to wear nappies too.
Cooper is cheeky chap who is simply living his best life. He is on a special Hypoallergenic, high protein diet and has supplements to try to keep his gut and bowl and healthy as possible. His favourite treats are chicken and tinned fish and his favourite toy is the laser pen.

Big Kev
Big Kev was found in a scrap yard as a tiny, malnourished kitten who was very ill and severely under weight. She was nursed back to health by her foster carer, Julie, and she is now much better. Big kev lacks a heathy immune system and her growth has been stunted due to her rough start. She has had cat flu several times in her short life each time needing expect care to recover. Big Kev has definitley turned into an Alpha female and is now the boss of the Banks household. Her favorite food is purina and she simply loves inspecting all the new beds donated to the GCR and hanging around with her new friend Ollie.
Nacho
Seen as a stray limping badly early December. Nacho was caught after a week and taken to the vet where his leg was examined. He has possible cruciate ligament damage, bone problems, tumour etc. X-rays carried out but the vet was unable to make a clear diagnosis and recommended a CAT scan. Nacho is very likely to have long terms problems with his joint and because his prognosis is quite unpredictable, he will remain in GCRs care for now.
A rescue place had been found for him but after learning the diagnosis they withdrew the offer of a place.
Glossop Cat Rescue offered the cat a place regardless of any diagnosis or treatment needed.
However, we need help for his vet bills. The scan alone is £1000. If he needs an operation, the bill could be as much as £6,000.
We believe every cat deserves a chance.
Nacho was neutered by the vet and tested negative for FIV.
Nacho is a gentle giant and the GCR is hoping to be able to give him all the medical attention he needs so that in time he can find his forever home.

Fletcher
Fletcher has had a hard life and we suspect has suffered abuse. He is untrusting of humans and is slowly coming round but he can do it at his own pace in his lovely foster home with Beth.
Beth is a whizz with difficult cases and already we are seeing a big difference in fletcher. We hope in time this beautiful boy will mellow and find his forever home.

Titch
Titch is one of our Polydactyl twins. They were handed over to the GCR alongside other older siblings and their mother. The Polydactyl twins were hand reared prior to coming to the GCR because their mother had mastitis from a previous pregnancy. The twins were very small for their age with titch weighting just 250g when she arrived. Both girls have been quite ill and in the past had to be bottle fed every few hours, however they are doing much better now. They are still very small and prone to upset tummies and bugs, and so for now at least will remain with the GCR. Their favourite treats are chicken and sardines. They are lacking manners and will simply climb anyone if they stand around long enough.

The twins still get their milk during the day and special high protein kitten food aswell to help build up their strength. Their favorite treats are chicken and sardines. They are lacking manners and will simply climb anyone if they stand around long enough.

Lucy
Lucy is a lovely lady who has been through the mill in her short life. She had cancer in both ears that we had to remove. She is currently in long term foster with Maxine.
